Got my new boat Friday. (day before yesterday) I assembled it Friday evening hoping to take it for a shake down float this weekend. As it turns out, I got the worst cold I could remember in recent history. Ear aches, bad tonsils, congestion and major coughing from the lungs. I’ve fished in poor health before, but I wasn’t supposed to fish this weekend. To drive the point home, the starter on my car gave up the ghost. So I suffered and whimpered all weekend. Poor me. I hate it when my admiration for me is surpassed only by my sympathy for me.
Anyway, I have the fish finder attached. (I’m going to use a bicycle kick stand for the transducer) I have the bags and stripping basket attached where I want them. The anchor system is complete, except for a small lead weight. And, I’m keeping my wading staff in the starboard side gear bag. The only thing left is to determine where I want to carry the landing net. When I take it out for the first time, I’ll decide where to secure the seat; fore or aft of where it is now. It’s going to be FUN, for sure.
Be happy for me. Be very happy.

Nice ride.
Hope you recover quickly and get a chance to use it SOON.

Nice boat. I just assembled the boat that I bought a few months ago today.
Besides buying an anchor, I am looking for a rod holder. So what are you going to add to yours?
Joe,
I AM happy for you. I remember when I got my 'toon that I couldn’t wait to get done with work so I could take it to the local lakes. I even did an all day float with it on the South Branch of the Au Sable in Michigan. Lots of fun and I felt very safe and secure with the wide profile of a 'toon. lots of good luck and happy days to ya.
Joe
Clay,
The boat came with an anchor system, rod holder and a transport wheel. I’ve added an Eagle Cuda fish finder and I want to jerry-rig a net holder.
Cool, you’re going to have a blast. That transport wheel is interesting. It will make it nice if you have to walk it very far.

I have been debating getting one of those in the sage color… The fiberglass canoe just ain’t cuttin’ it anymore… I hope you enjoy it! Let us know how well it works for ya!
I know the link I posted shows an orange boat, but I opted for the sage colored one. More stealthy. Do ya think?
A great lookin boat Joe. Enjoy. I will be watchin for ya on the local lakes.
Shaky Wadr,
Good to hear from you again. I enjoyed our time together on the Locsha last year. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for you when I go fish some of our northern lakes.
Hmmmm lets see if I got this right… hmmm … yep Joe got a gnu boat and still he whines. Sounds a lot like me…
Hope your cold clears up soon and you get back on the lakes quickly.
Your new boat is similar to my toon. Wth the wheel your gonna love it. You can maneuver it around like a wheelbarrow. I’m trying to picture you being stealthy. ![]()
I notice that Washington regs for this year have upped the limit for Muskie from 36 inches to 50 inches to be legal. That’s sure going to make it a tad more difficult to get a trophy. Good thing we practice catch and release so we don’t need to worry about size limits and such.
I have a mental picture of lowtecjoe zipping across Evergreen reservoir at breakneck speed, rooster tail 20 feet in the air, being towed by a 225 Muskiepower engine. H-e-l-p meeee! h-e-l-p meeeeeeeeee! As the crowd on shore cheers wildly. Yep nice boat Joe!
Roger, I think you need to leave for the fish-in now, your hallucinating.:p;)
Eric
I agree.![]()
