Was checking out Enrico Puglisi’s site earlier and see that he has some instructional videos available to “members”. Looked at the sample video (peanut butter) at it looks pretty decent. All of the other videos are for members only. Went to register, and see that there is a $20 charge for a years membership.
My questions are; Has anybody “joined”?, Are the videos worth it?, Are you able to download the videos so you have a hard copy?
All I ever get when I try the sample videos is a “Stream Not Found” error. Tried it with different browsers and from different computers. Yes, I have a flash player installed. Didn’t inspire enough confidence to look in more detail at the benefits of a subscription.
If none of these help, PM me and I will send you directions. I tie them all the time. It is a high tie low tie. Basically you tie in a length of the fiber (a small match stick compressed or less ) with a portion of the material forward aligned with the hook. Tie the excess a little forward (an 1/8" or more), then fold it back and tie it in from the front of the fly. This allows you to tie in two sections at once. You will start with a longer tail portion and fold back from the tail and progress to much shorter lengths as you progress to the front of the fly
One you get your fibers tied, use a metal comb or pick to brush it out and trim and shape with scissors. Then, just use markers to color it the way you wish, and add detail markings, gills, etc… I use stick-on eyes on all of mine.
There are 3 videos currently on the EP site. For a long time, there was only 1. I’m not sure it is worth the $20 at this time, though he has plans to add more videos.
There are a few 20 sec clips to sample, but if you go to the video link there is a 45 minute very detailed video on the peanut butter. Next to that is a list of 23 additional fly videos. Is this a planned list, or are they already available?
