Glad to see that it got to the Island Nation…the wrong side of the Island Nation, but who am I to complain? Congratulations Sean.
Brad

Thanks guys and gal. I am really excited about getting this rod.
I dropped a pm to John S telling him I didn’t think a bamboo rod should be my first build and fighting the urge to do so. I want to fish that rod so bad I may have to have and probably will have someone build it for me.
Yeah Jimmy, I guess you can have a try it is the least I can do for tearing your Jim Brown rookie card in half?..I am sure you had that coming though.
Sean
Well…the BEST side of course…you know, I have a Kusse reel that would have been a great match. Oh well, guess I’ll have to build one myself.
Brad
Sean,
Glad you won it. Now, as we discussed the other night, we have to find a builder to build it for you…Joe?, Brad?
Jimmy…He tore up WHAT? There is NO crime serious enough to warrant THAT punishment!!
Mike
Too much Christmas Ale and Rumplemens (sp) have burned out some brain cells…you did what?! When?!
Jimmy
Sean,
Having been awarded that same blank here on FAOL last August (a year ago), I can tell you, YOU CAN BUILD IT YOURSELF!!! Take it slow and easy, practice before you start, and during if need be, and you can finish it beautifully.
Don’t let the fact that it is bamboo put you off! It’s a wonderful rod, and a wonderful build!
Betty
WELL NOW, GO FIGURE THAT AN IRISH LAD WOULD WIN! AND IT WOULD TURN INTO A PUB FIGHT BETWEEN BROTHERS :p, THEN THROW IN AN IRISH TUBER TO KEEP IT ROLLIN! ONLY IN THE ISLAND NATION COULD YOU FIND SUCH A THING.
Sean, congrats on winning the boo. You really should give building it a try. There are plenty of good folks here that are willing to help out that’s for sure.
I was intimidated at first when I started building, but it really isn’t hard at all. If you can tie flies, you can build a rod.
Jeremy
congradulations on your bamboo kit… youll have fun building a rod & more fun fishing it… bamboo is easy to work with… here is a rod im building from scratch… started with the culm, cut & glued up a blank, put on a reel seat bellinger sent me & grip i made myself… now all i have left to do is put on the guides, wraps and some varnish… to me the wraps are the hardest part & this is the 2nd rod ive built from scratch… my tools to build it consisted of a home made planing form, a draw knife, a small metal burnisher and several grades of sandpaper… i practiced wraps on a section of 1/4’ dowel rod before i started building…

heres 2 websites that will help ya on your building…
Hey guys
Sorry I haven’t responded before this but I have been sick with a cold flu-ish thing since Saturday night.
Mike: I had a great last meal with you. I went to work Saturday and that’s all she wrote for me till about 20 minutes ago my first venture out of bed since.
Jimmy: If I didn’t tear your Jim Brown card in half you’re not even aloud to look at it. It may not have been Jim Brown since he was a rookie in 57 or 58. I think 58; but anyhow I tore some sports card in half. Maybe it was Ray Fossy
Betty: Sweet, sweet Betty. There is no doubt in my mind that I could build this rod. It’s just that I would need to find a new place to live to do so. The soonest I could get into rod building would be when I finish the wood work in the dinning room, paint the dinning room, up stairs hall way and my office. Put in a second bath down stairs. Finnish the basement, build a retaining wall for the back yard, strip and re-shingle the roof, rebuild the garage (see retaining wall), build a swing set and paint the house. Then and only then will I be able to even think of building a rod. This list is subject to change with any natural catastrophe. But one day I will build my own rods mark my words.
Ohiofly: The Dial brothers in a pub fight now wouldn’t that be something. I have no wish to fight me brother.
Jeremy: Thank you for your congrats. I can’t tell you how hard it is to fight the urge to build rods. I am sure it will only add to the enjoyment I already have in this sport. I don’t know maybe I will.
Ivan: I have been keeping my eye on your post in the rod building section and you have some reel talent (pun intended). I just may give it a shot when I have some time.
Brad: A Kusse Reel would be a very nice complement to this rod. If the island nation were ever to take sides we would be in the right.
Now that I think of it the wife and kids go on a vacation in July for a week maybe I could do it then.
All The Best,
Sean
