Dream Rod

With all the rods out there, you come across one every so often that is as though it was made with you in mind.
My quest lately was a perfect 5 weight as I am very well covered in the 2,3,4,6,8 class. As far as 5 weight I have a F&F and a 10’. both serve their purpose great, but I found a NEED for a nice 8’6" and for me med. action. My old man has a Winston LT, a Steffen, a McFarland and a Sage SLT that I can use anytime, but I wanted MY OWN.
So, I ordered it (name on it and all) and was told around 6 weeks. No problem, but to my surprise, there is was a week after I ordered it…WAHOO!
MY PERFECT ROD! So I had to put the perfect line and reel on it. It is a Green Vosseler RC and Ridgeline, line…perfect!
Here is my PRINCESS:

Great rod to fill out your quiver. Congrats!!!

There isn’t a smiley for jealous. Enjoy that beauty.

Sweet!!!

Thanks all. You ever get a chance to shake this stick…DON’T DO IT!

My buddy has the NON-JWF version 8’6" 5wt WT. That is a sweet rod!

Have fun!

Beautiful 'tater stake, Joni! I’m happy for you!
Really like that custom cut, cork fore-grip too.
Also very glad to see, that someone else is impressed with Ridgelines!

joni i won a vosseler rc reel from the vosseler website and absolutely love it! that is one fine rig you have there! enjoy it!

I have a custom made 8’6" 5 weight IM-6 Winston… great all around rod. smooth as silk. you can’t go wrong with that one… if the ridgeline gives you problems try a Rio Selective Trout DT 5.

VERY nice.

Curious, though. Did you NEED that rod before you saw it, or after ??

Bring it with you to the Expo and I’ll bring you coffee if you let me shake it a time or two.

John

Funny thing about WINSTON. It just seems to have a special power. I own a few other rods of equal price and a few even more, but this is a WINSTON LOL

Seriously, I was looking hard at the SAGE ZXL. Even looked at blanks thinking a custom 8’6" 5 weight would be sweet. But, then I walked into Fish Tech and picked up the JWF and fell in love. That was all she wrote.
I will being it for sure, plus some glass and bamboo…lets go wet some flies.

I just checked my log for April '07, around the 20th. Two separate days on the South Fork I hit the baetis hatch just right and caught 30-35 cutthroats each day on dries.

The place I was fishing last April is much changed this year so I can’t be sure that there will be a repeat performance by the blue wing olives at that particular spot - but there will be some water on the South Fork where you can give your dream rod a work out.

John

Be sure and hook up with me at the show if you would. We will retire up there, but it is a few years down the road, so I want to get some honey holes to keep as a secret place when I am up there.

I was raise more east in Glenn’s Ferry, by Boise, but we want to retire around Ashton.

Pretty rod, but does it catch fish???
Hi M!!!

DERRRR!!!

I HATE ASHTON IDAHO!!!

Two of the 3 times i traveled threw Ashton, Idaho I had car problems. One time i was going down to G Targhee for a skiing trip, and i had my oil pump replaced 2 days before, well it just happened that the nut they used to install the oil pump was stripped. The oil pump failed at Ashton, needless to say if you car doesnt have oil, bad things are going to happen. Thankfully it was the dealer repairmen that messed up my car, so they covered all the repair costs, and my rent-a-car and hotel costs.

The other time was coming back from Targhee, we stopped at a gas station late on a sunday. The driver locked the keys in the car. We couldnt get a locksmith within 2 hours or within the price it would cost just to replace a window. Needless to say it was a cold drive home.

Joni,
Are you interested in spuds? The Potato Country of Ashton, Idaho

The Eastern Idaho gateway to West Yellowstone brings you through the rustic farming community of Ashton, Idaho. With over 11,000 acres of crops that yield over ten tons of seed potatoes per acre, Ashton is the largest seed potato producing area in the country. Seed potatoes grown here are shipped all over the U.S. The open valley just outside of Ashton is decorated with miles of bountiful potato fields that inspired the motto found on every Idaho license plate, Famous Potatoes.
End Quote.
Here is some more important potato info!In fact, over 30 varieties of potato are grown in the state of Idaho, but the Russet Burbank is by far the most produced potato crop in the state. Russet Burbanks have an elongated shape with rough, netted skin and few eyes. Occasionally, the potatoes will mutate back to a thinner smooth skinned version, but both have white, starchy flesh. This Idaho potato made the state famous in the 20th century, when Idaho came to be known as a major potato producer.
THIRTY Varieties!!! Holy french fry Batman! Joni, You can have a different potato, every day of the month!!
Why didn’t the mother potato want her daughter to marry the famous newscaster?
Because he was a commontater. End Quote.
