Double Branch Snook

For those of you that were at the Fish-In 2005 you might remember the second day of fishing. The place was in the Upper Tampa Bay Park on a stretch of water called Double Branch. Well boys and girls … this is what hides in Double Branch at times.

These are some fellows from Jacksonville, FL prefishing a tournament for this past Saturday here in Tampa. This monster was caught, measured and released for your fishing pleasure should you come back down one day. Couldn’t catch her on the day of the tournament though.

Gotta love it just knowing he/she is still out there.

holy %$#!!!
That first one is a big ol’ sow. Bet it turned that yak around a time or two!

Thier cheating, using @#$%$#@ equipment. My god those fish have a gut as big as mine. I think the fish-ins should be last week in april, then I can get a 2 week head start to warm the water up and get the hang of what it takes to land a brute like that.

There has never been a set date for the Fish-in… I am sure the next secret meeting we can discuss your date request.

We have always wanted the weather to be a touch warmer, but fear the April rush back north as a problem. Maybe next time we will have it later in the year. This time we were 2 weeks later and the only fish caught were at the feeding holes. Man did we have some good grub.

Those are some nice catches ! Almost as big as the snook the fisherman across the lake caught urban fishing at night about two months ago; but definately fish catches of a lifetime for the species !

The next secret pirates meeting will have to be this summer when the snook are on the beaches in a feeding frenzy from the spawn. We’ll just have to have a mini-fish-in with maximum catching results! It’s all catch & release after the season closes.
