Dominick's Reneball Hacklestacker SBS

Does double duty as an ant and midge (for whatever reason, orange in a midge works; see Buzzball). Emerger hook used here for the wider gap.

hook - Dai Riki 125 #18
thread - Danville 6/0 orange
loop - UTC 140 cream
abdomen - dubbing black
rear hackle - grizzly
thorax - tying thread
head - dubbing orange
front hackle - grizzly dyed orange

Part 1

mash barb, start thread, tie in loop, wrap to bend

tie in hackle, hook loop in gallows, wrap up and down post (=width of abdomen); tie off/trim

dub abdomen

pull hackle forward; tie down, wrap thorax

Part 2

repeat hackling in orange

dub head

pull hackle forward; tie off/trim

half hitch x 2, SHHAN

original pattern (more or less)

Scott

Scott,

That looks like a fly with enormous possibilities. Might reverse the colors for bluegills to see if they strike the pointy bit of the hook more.
