DIY "Floaty" for Gopro Hero

One thing I like about having the Gopro Hero is the fact that they make so many good accessories for it. One of them which is almost a “must” for anglers is what they call the “Floaty” which attaches to the backdoor of the housing. It keeps the camera from sinking in case you ever drop it, knock it overboard, or the head strap was to fall off into the water. This is the Floaty they sell right here…

It’s $15 plus $6 shipping. Now I dunno about you but there’s no way in hell I would hand over $21 for a damn piece of glorified foam. So today I went to the hardware and found one of the super dense closed cell foam gardening kneel pads which was on clearance for a whopping .65cents. 15 minutes with a coping saw, some sand paper, two pieces of velcro and viola’…exact same thing they sell for $21 for a mere .65cents.

Use the rest to make pads for the end of your PVC rod tubes. Just cut them out with a hole saw minus the center drill. They work great.

That’s an excellent idea Brad, I didn’t even think about that:cool:
