DFW fly fishers....

Just sending out a shout to all the fly fisherman here in the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex…

Still trying to figure out how to search all the members so see who all is in a specific area to try and get some fishing outings put together…

Fish On!!
Alan

I’m in Tulsa but I fish down on the Lower Mountain Fork on many occasions…

Hi Alan,

I’m in Garland, TX, and would enjoy an outing most weekends. I have found a few productive areas around Richardson, and I also head to Broken Bow, OK several times a year.

John

Allan, the reel in your picture, that IS a spinning reel, right?

JC, noticed the reel configuration also. Saw it this a.m. while checking in on my FAOL family.

Alan, Don’t live in the D/FW area but did grow up in it. (Bedford) Do have some buddies in your general area that do fly fish. Will get in touch with them and hopefully they will get in touch with you. Fish on Bro’
Mike K.

Alan, I’m a bit northeast of the metroplex proper,Farmersville. It’s so blasted hot I can hardly think of fishing nowadays. I might be up for a get-together when it’s cooler or in air conditioned comfort now. I’m attempting to learn to tie flies during the time it’s too uncomfortable to fish. Thought tying might keep my mind off the fact that I ain’t fishing. Dadburnit, the lakes are so dried up that my normal fishing places are overrun with cattle grazing now.

Egads!!! Who in the world took my pic and modified it like that!!!.. hahahaha… I fish for them all with any rig I can use!!! That pic was taken out at Lake Bridgeport… mighty good tasting catfish caught that day…

Alan,

Located in Fort Worth. Always looking for someone to go fishing with. Tend to fish the Brazos below PK and other areas west.

Brian

Brian… I fish the BR below PK but also down near LW… I need to head back down that way!!

Do any of you DFW-ers go up and fish the lakes on the Johnson National Grasslands around Decatur?
Joe

haven’t yet but they look like some good spots to go check out… how’s the action there?

Allen,
I’m afraid that it is against the BB rules TU TOC INN CODE.
Sorry,
Doug

Haven’t been out there in a couple of weeks since the latest round of storms and cold weather, but the lakes that had enough water in them were pretty good. They should be even better now after the rains.
Joe

DShock,

As this was a discussion of DFW Fly fishing folks I didn’t even think about writing out the whole location names. So for those not in the know here is the secret decoder ring.

PK = Possum Kingdom Lake
LW = Lake Whitney

Brian

Brian,
Your right! I was out of line to butt in. I couldn’t resist because you used abbreviations.
That is a funny idea to post the Decoder. I also understand that Texas is a BIG place with some long names of places.
Doug

Doug,

Not a problem at all. As a displaced Oregonian living in Texas I still get confused by the names around here. Too many sound much to similar to my ears. I should have realized though that those not “in the know” might also have been confused by the abreviations.

Tight Lines,
Brian

Brian,
If your a displaced Oregonian, Then you need to come HOME!!!
Not this week though, it is RAINING! :frowning:
They are catching Salmon in the Willamette finally.
If the stupid Maples will get done blooming, my allergies will get off me!
I hope you can come for a visit some time
Bad news about Portland, They built a Ski Lift and their trying to become the King of Condos.
I have never been to Texas, but a relative of mine once said that Texas was a state so big, that you couldn’t rent a car to drive across the state, you have to fly!
