Sorry, I don’t know where else to post this.
Can the initial poster delete his post? if so, how?
Thanks.

Go to the edit button on the bottom right. One of the choices is delete.

Pretty sure once someone has posted on the thread…it can’t be deleted.

I just started an “Experiment” thread on the Learning Experience Forum to see if I could delete it.
When I went to “edit” on that first post starting the new thread, I did not get a “delete” option. Seems to me that JC told me once that you could delete the thread by using the “go advanced” option, but that didn’t give me a delete option, either. Maybe his reference to changing the title on the thread, not deleting it ??
From what I can tell, only an administrator can delete a thread once it gets going. It is possible to edit the first post and delete the content, but to delete all the information in the post, you still have to do the ten character thing to complete the edit in which you are deleting the information.
What ???
John
I think you are correct , John.
At least we can correct a bfu.
Thanks John.
That’s exactly what I experienced.
Might I ask why we don’t have that option?
Is it a tech thingy? I just thought it would be convenient, especially on the for sale board once you have sold an item.
Bob
send a PM to rtidd and he will delete it for you. worked for me in the past
you CAN DELETE your message.
when i hit the “EDIT” button, in the lower right corner of my post, it opens the edit box and it says “SAVE” “GO ADVANCED” “DELETE” “CANCEL” in the lower right hand cornre of the edit box. after i click on the “DELETE” it gives me the option “DO NOT DELETE MESSAGE” or “DELETE MESSAGE”. i then chose “DELETE MESSAGE” button and in the lower right hand corner of that box is the “DELETE THIS MESSAGE” button. if i click on that button this message would be gone.
i know this because i just deleted a previous message!
heres what it says on the for sale board
“Got one or two things to sell? This is the place.
Please Report your post (the triangle icon in the header) when sold for removal.
Also the posts are subject to automatic removal at 1 month.”
That’s fine.
Just curious as I only see Save, Go Advanced and Cancel.

I"m pretty sure once someone adds to your thread/post things change.
You can delete your original post if there are no other posts…the DELETE that Norm mentions is there but disappears when someone has posted after you.
We had the capability to delete our own posts in the past anytime but Jim had his reasons for not allowing that when the big change over took place.
I suppose I should go test what I just said but am pretty sure that’s how it is.

This works on a post within a thread, but not on the initial post starting a thread.
John
It may be because it allows administrators to keep track of trouble makers. I once was part of a board where one fellow would come in, post something obnoxious then, later, delete it and claim he’d never done it.
