those are very well tied and interesting.

LEBENGEEK,

I love your bass bugs! Very well done.

Welcome to FAOL from Tennessee. Grab a chair and stay awhile and explore this great site.

Thanks Wes,
I got the idea for the large mouths on the flies from fishing top water with those Jitter bug lures as a kid. I tie them with Rattles and adjustable weed guards so you can choose if you want to go weedless or not. Large Small Mouth Bass love’m.

Yes Sir LEBENGEEK …these are cool and will probably wiggle like A Lazy Ike !
Thanks for sharing and Welcome to FAOL

Thanks for the Welcome to FAOL, Jeffro and Warren ! Great to be on the site.

I agree with all of the comments above. Those are some crazy deer hair bugs. Very well dressed, colorful, and will probably draw strikes like crazy. Welcome to FAOL. Have you considered a Fly of the Week submission on your flies? I’d love to see how they are tied.

REE

Ditto on the welcome to FAOL, lot of great folks hanging out around here.

I love the jitterbug lip on the front of the flies. I have ponder on that off and on for several years and never considered deer hair. The should give a great wobble. Smallmouth on a fly are something I have dreamed about every since I picked up the long rod again, it just has never been very easy to do where I have lived.

Wow! Those are some nice bugs! Is the head with with one that has the red head made from foam? The others look like deer hair. I second the fly of the week. Would love to see how the rattle is put in and how the weed guard is adjusted.

Smallmouth Bass are great fun on a fly!! since the fly is so light you don’t get that true jitterbug wobble, so i use the lip to push water like a gurgler , it tends to bring the bigger fish to the fly and a big smile on my face.

Thanks Wingsdlc! The fly with the red head is also deer hair. All of the heads I coat with nail polish so they hold their shape. As far as fly of the week, I’ll have to ask for some guidance from the senior members on how to properly Format so my pictures will have descriptions.
Thanks again.

Is LEBENGEEK an anagram for Chris Helm or something? Those are VERY Impressive indeed! I’m going to have to file a petition to change my name on here because with flies like that I don’t feel worthy of the Bass_Bug moniker now!

Welcome from Ohio, we love Smallies and LMB.

LEBENGEEK,

Those are beautifully tied bugs. I love fishing for smallies with top water flies, specially deer hair bugs. What are you using to coat the lips of the bugs? Those look pretty durable.

Alberto

Hi Alberto,

Thanks, I’m glad you folks are enjoying them. I love tying these guys. I make a huge mess and it takes me some time to finish one, but its great to land fish with one. I use Sally Hanson Hard as nails (nail hardener). I used Testors lacquer but it wouldn’t hold the hair together after fighting a bass.

ALAN

I’m sure you are very worthy Bass_Bug !! I’m glad you like my Deer Hair Flies

You are a very talented tier!!

Thanks Byron!
I am working on a step by step for the forum. I tied a fly today and took some pics. I need to write the steps and I’ll post it soon.

Great! Look forward to seeing the step by step!

This is the Fly I tied for the Fly of the week. I’m writing the step by step and should have it done in a day or two.

Spinning deer hair is my “tying nemesis” just can’t do it no matter how hard I try. Some day I hope my local shop gets someone to teach it. Great looking bugs!!!
