crystal flash on dry flies

I read or was told by someone what the trick was for tying crystal flash on dry fly bodies but I can’t remember it. When you tie on crystal flash or for that matter peacock herl, what do you do to keep the material from sliding off the back? I want to tie some more Patriot’s

Since the patriot has a tail, I cant see the Krystal flash sliding down the bend of the hook. The tail acts as a dam and would prevent anything from sliding.

However, if there is no tail, this is what I would do. Tie in the krystal flash strands. Separate all of the strands except one. Wrap the blue strands forward 3-4 turns and then with that one strand of krystal flash that was left out of the bunch that was just wrapped forward, pull that one strand over the top of the 3-4 turns you just wrapped forward and continue to wrap the body and tie off.

This trick also works for floss bodies. Putting that one strand over the top prevents the body from sliding down the bend.

jkilroy,
Make one or two wraps of dubbing, or whatever you are using for the body, behind the tie-in point of the KF.
