Anybody tie any great crappie flies they wouldn’t mind sharing?
Always had good luck with yellow marabou muddlers (weighted). Al Campbell’s Crappie Candy is supposed to be a good one, too:

I made up what I called a chrome bugger, basic bugger design, underbody of holographic or silver tinsel material, white marabou tail, white or grizzly hackle.
Stick a size 10 pink squirrel under a foam stick-on indicator. Kind of jig it back to you on the retrieve.
Marabou jigs or buggers tied in jigheads in combinations of white, yellow, chartreuse and gray. 1/64 oz probably the best size. Fish under an indicator.
Every fly I tie is a crappy fly
I’m partial to my “Mata-Crappie” fly. It’s actually a great pattern. Here’s a little video we did a few years ago…
And a tutorial on how to tie it…
Microjigs under an indicator:
Although they look small, 1/80th oz and 1/100th oz microjigs will catch crappies of all sizes, including the bigger ones. In my area, a 12" Crappie is a really good fish. This past year was a very good year, and I used microjigs to catch at least 4 Crappies that measured from 13"-14.5".
I’m with Ray up above - but they catch fish. Can’t wait to try these in the spring.

I love the video Curtis. I’m beginning to think all my fly tying books, well some, may be obsolete! I get so much more from watching the videos. My only suggestion, but I’m not good at this video thing, have the camera on the other side, I would like to see all the steps better.
Thanks!
Mike
I like yellow boa yarn leeches and the Goldie Jr. Botyh are the FOTW here.

Last year’s winner was a #10 chartreuse squirrel over white kip Clouser…
I am going to try something bigger and lighter for shallow slabs this year. If it works, it could pay off in aces… report to come if it works!
Qk, that is the size I like to tie, a number 10, head chain eyes, and some hair. Red thread on hook shank with a white wing, just past the bend.
I like hook point up flies as it seems the crappie flip off less
The crappies flip me off all the time!
