My brothers neighbor who runs a food bank and occasionally helps resupply people who have lost their homes got what he thought was a bunch of fur scraps in a large donation of more useful items. Thinking they were of little use to his clients he asked if I wanted them. When I picked them up I found a big box of craft fur pieces. I have occasionally used it for tying but need ideas for using a lot more. He also has a box full of punch emboidery yarn that may appear in the for sale section soon. Proceeds help buy gas for the van and necessities that he can’t get donated.
Let’s see…
I tie craft fur minnows, and really like tying small Clousers using craft fur.
It can be used for tails for nymphs.
Really, you can use it anywhere you might use fur or deer hair (except deer hair used for bass-bug style heads, of course).
I’ve seen it used on some carp fly patterns, and crayfish patterns.
Consider short streamer and wet fly tails and throats as well as tails on Wooly Buggers
What you might call its underfur is good for dubbing also.
