I acquired the above fly line and haven’t fished it yet.
I understand that the line sinks very slowly, 1-1.5 ips
Would one use a tapered leader (7.5- 9.0) or a 3-5’ section of straight mono/fluorcarbon.
You can use which ever one you want. When I am fishing soft hackles I usually use a tapered mono leader (why? I don’t know, just do) then add on a couple feet of fluorocarbon tippet material. But, for streamers and such there is no reason not to use a non-tapered leader. But then again, use which ever you want. The non-tapered leader material is less expensive than the tapered leaders. I usually fish this line with about 4 to 5 feet of mono - 2 foot but section of heavier mono and then add 2 foot section of your desired tippet.
i’m an old-school fly-fisherman…I mean…I even still use the no-knot steel eye-let pin that’s a bitch to insert…but I prefer them,…swear by them…and then just 8 foot of stren (mist-green) mono…4Lb…that is how I fish all warm-water…trout…I just tie desired tippet length and diameter…I keep it simple…old-school…
