Copper Swan SBS

White-wing (hence the Swan) variation on the Copper John. Change colors to suit your fancy.

hook - Dai Riki 135 #6
thread - MFC 6/0 hot orange
abdomen - UTC wire medium chartreuse
thorax - Ice Dub peacock
wing case - Flashabou pearl
hackle - CDC dun
wing - biots white
bead - gold 4mm

Part 1

mash barb, slide bead on hook; start thread/tie in wire and wrap back halfway down bend

wrap wire to the bead; helicopter end/cover with thread

tie in 2 strands of Flashabou; fold/wrap back to point above point

measure biots (hook length; tie in with tips facing forward

dub thread/dub thorax

pull Flashabou over thorax, tie down/trim

Part 2

tie in CDC by tip; stroke fibers back while wrapping, tie off/trim

fold biots back; tie down, whip, SHHAN

thanks for the duh huh moment on tying in the biots . ive always been slightly frustrated with the additional wraps I would have to apply to cover the butt ends of the biots. never occurred to me to do what you do.
