Complex Twist Bugger tied on a TMC 9395 size 4. Two-toned marabou tail with some gold and red Flashabou. Complex twist is a brown schlappen, a dirty yellow schlappen, and some UV Copper Polar Flash. Olive Brown Ice dub for the veil.
That pattern has a lot of “swim” in it.
Yes it does. I love the way a Complex Twist fly has “swim”. I’ve done several Buggers. There are other patterns as well.
I must be living in a cave in that bluntly, I wasn’t aware of this pattern. I found a nice video on the tie here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKrZ2NLaphM
Now I need some new materials. Having to buy new stuff for fly tying is always a joy. Like most of us, sometimes, I think that I am a fly tying material collector since I have more materials that I can ever tie now. Thanks for helping me spend some money.
Check out the tool he made in the video to twist the multiple materials to make the twist. Thought that would be a very easy project too.
Clay, that’s the video I’ve watched as well. They have an articulated version also. I’m also a member on their group on FB. I made a the Gator Grip tool myself. Haven’t made or purchased the ball-bearing spinner yet. Should have cannibalized one of my kids’ fidget spinners when they lost interest.
