Egg laying variation (sorta) of the Colorado King; originally called a Colorado King female (???) - they’re not hermaphrodites to the best of my knowledge, hence the name change. A lot in common with the Elk Hair Caddis; typical inbreeding amongst the royals.
hook - Dai Riki 320 #16
thread - MFC 8/0 brown
egg sac - 1mm foam chartreuse
tails/outriggers - moose body hair
abdomen - dubbing tan/grey
hackle - brown
wing - deer hair
Part 1
poke a hole in foam strip (1/2 gap width), insert debarbed hook; mount on vise

start thread, wrap to bend then back to hook point

pull foam down on top and bottom of hook and tie down

pull foam back, advanced thread, brush on a little Super Glue, tie down; repeat up to 80% mark

trim foam and cover with thread

select a pair of moose hairs (paint brush fibers would be a lot more durable but all of mine are in use); measure for length (hook shank) and tie in on either side of sac
