I concur with REE and QK on the swapstress keeping all extras.
My thoughts as a Meister are: If they do not arrive by your deadline and you have not heard from the swapper, you go on with the swap in a fair assumption they dropped out. If they arrive after the deadline, you can either mark their package “Return to Sender” or just keep it. I feel if your rules and deadlines were clearly expressed you are justified keeping them if you want, but returning them unopened makes a strong point. (play by the rules, or you don’t play)
As for the extras flies from everyone else? Keep what you want, divy up what you don’t. Thats the perk of being the Meister, it’s your swap, YOU make the rules.

you all were embarrassingly generous this time around, BTW. what can i say except thank-you! freddyg, for once i may actually outfish my 2nd best fishing buddy, the one who ties teensie weensie little midge larvae and catches stuff all winter long. (Best Fishing Buddy is too smart to go out when there’s skiing to be done!) i’ll pop a couple of those little guys under one of Bass_Bug’s indicators–can’t fail!

bspitt, your flies are here! delicious looking, to say the least. talked to Night Angler last night and he and i are cool with him joining the next Color Swap. it didn’t make sense to rush a tie and rush the delivery–i’m out of town from the get-go next week and couldn’t delay.
look for your flies late next week. this one has been a hoot!
made it out to the PO in the howling snowstorm–just had to try out the new vehicle’s 4WD (it works)–and the flies are on their way. all except waltryan’s which decided to crawl out of the bag and camp out on the car floor. they will go from VT on Monday. looks like that might save them some time anyway!
