I took down a string today. One guy asked for info, several replied, he took offense and vowed he would not ask again, someone else got ticked off and will now lurk. Enough. Anybody who doesn’t want to post anymore, don’t. But, don’t whine and snivel about it, just quit posting. If you can’t play nice;;; don’t play at all. We don’t need to know how badly your feelings are hurt.

Now that were back on Topic, I have a few more comments.
a. You have never posted, just lurked, WHAT should you do??

  1. KEEP lurking if that makes you happy! This scenerio has happened to me many times; I’m hesitant to post a question! I finally get up enough nerve and someone else posts the same question. I don’t go as far as PM’ing the person and thanking them but just be patient and everything works out.

b. Your a NEW poster, WHAT should you expect??

  1. You MIGHT get a first response and answer to your post OR the process of replying and answering your post MIGHT take a while! Be Patient! Rome wasn’t built in a DAY!

c. What are your responsibilities as a Poster??

  1. Simplify your Topic! Make believe were not all geniuses. You don’t want people coming back to you and saying, “WHAT R U TALKIN ABOUT?” :frowning:
  2. Spell it out, SIMPLY, and then as your Post continues (with more replies) YOU can elaborate ALL you want!
    Just DON’T be too wordy about questions.

d. You submit a Post and NO response??

  1. DON’T get upset! Life is all about stumbling, getting up and moving on. Re-Formulate your Topic! Change Forums! Send someone a PM and ASK for advice!!!

e. This is the most important TIP! IF! You are in a BAD MOOD! And You Post, then you get MAD about your replies, WHAT did you just learn???

  1. PRETENDERS: People that pretend to be someone their not, to impress others.
    a. SHORT Term Idea! There was a guy who got away with it recently, for a while, BUT it’s not feasable, since anyone who tries it, will start to sound like a Broken Record! :lol: Also NOTHING gives me more Enjoyment than quizing the Pretender! :smiley:
    b. SORRY! :frowning: Pretending has been TRIED but never PERFECTED.
  2. REAL Person: This is the kind of person who DOESN’T need to impress anyone!! In FACT!, This Person is impressive from WITHIN! THIS is the kind of Person that has made FAOL a great place!

Last night I watched the movie PATTON, with George C. Scott. Do you remember his opening speech???

General Patton was one of my heroes. I am going to PM you a link to the real Patton speech. I love the movie “Patton” and admire George C. Scott in his portrayal of one of the finest Generals in world history. I won’t post the link to the speech here as it is not the sanitized version used in the movie. Anyone that wants the link can PM me. I believe that the “cleaning up” of Patton’s speech is one of the things that angered Mr. Scott at the studio. I admire his fight to portray the real General Patton, not some politically correct version. I think he made a comment something to the effect of the Oscar being a insult compared to the honor of portraying General George S. Patton Jr.

I highly recommended reading General Patton’s autobiography “War as I knew it”. I knew a vet that served in the 3rd Army during W.W.II. He told me that General Patton was tough but they knew that you stood the best chance of surviving the war in his Army. Patton never made them take the same ground twice because he refused to allow his troops to retreat. He was proud of the fact that the 3rd Army never lost a battle under Patton’s command. He also told me that the General wasn’t tough on anyone that didn’t deserve it.

I would like to add that George C. Scott’s portrayal of General Patton was so effective as to get people to come to attention! I’m sure there were plenty of people that didn’t even know who he was before the movie, but George C. illuminated them! :smiley:
The best compliment to General Patton was that he was a Warrior! He lead by example!
General Patton’s comments in the opening speech of the movie pertaining to the Fact that American Soldiers were NOT going to HOLD ANY ground! OUR Soldiers were going to ADVANCE!! He was a Patriot!
We need more Patriots!

I think it starts with a ‘T’ :smiley: Someone told me he used to live in Mich. until they ‘BOOTED’ him out…too many traffic tickets??? :frowning: This guy is pretty OLD! also! There is a ‘RUMOR’ that this guy has been blacklisted from the Jack Daniels Whiskey Plant! :shock: Something about being a ‘REPEAT’ Sampler! I couldn’t use any of this information in Court, it’s just ‘SCUTTLEBUTT’!!! (BS) (GOSSIP) (GOSPEL) (SECOND HAND)
