Close Encounters...............

Chris

Nice article this week. How neat it must have been to run into him after all these years. What a reward for a brief moment in time.

Dave

Dave, …

It still haunts me that I could have, in a matter of minutes, … given him one of my bad habits (rolling back the shoulder instead of a nice firm Stop).

It was actually a VERY long story as to why I didn’t meet up with them sooner, … but we won’t elaborate on the state of today’s family unit

But Chris bad casting habits aside. The fact that you took the time to give him some fly line to get him started on the right foot. How many of us would have told his mom that the rod and reel are okay but he needs new line and let it go at that?

I’ll still tip my hat to you.

Dave, … Thankx, … Maybe it’s just a reflection of all the junk I have lying around in the pickup.

Over the years, I’ve given away rods, reels, lines, backing, more flies than I can remember, leaders, lunches, cigarettes, fire wood, a fishing vest, … even a place to sleep, … all to folks I’ve met on the (a) river.

I just know that they’ll all do the same someday

chris, i need all of those things…i’m on my way…

one time i was scouting a an obscure local place to fish and i saw someone i hadn’t seen in 15 years. i didn’t even know he fly fished. that was about 10 years ago; since then he’s been my best friend.
