Holiday decor and wrapping is a great source of tying materials. My favorite is mylar icicles (tree decor) which will substitute for flash in many patterns and is about $1 for a LOT. Also, floss and cording (usually for present wrapping) and rafia are available in many colors and usually on sale at this time of the year, good for weaving and bodies and wing cases.
What decor do you use?
Fine copper wire from the lights that don’t work. I throw away a lifetime supply every year, in addition to what I keep. I think I’m going ro tie a bunch of copper Johns this year.
To me, Christmas means duck hunting with family. And that means grilled goodness and lots of duck flank featbers to use in baitfish flies.
silver Christmas tree tinsel is good stuff.

Makes for a great body wrap on streamers.
