Was looking into buying both the Chota STL plus boots for myself and the abrams creek for my girlfriend…Does anyone have positive or negative feedback on these boots? Also was wondering hoe well the quicklace system works, and if its going to last long?
Blaine
Hi there, my last pair of boots were Chotas and if anyone was still importing them my current pair would be too! They were great boots that lasted me six years of use and abuse, they had the quick lace system and it worked fine.
Hope this helps.
All the best.
Mike.
I’ve had a pair for 4 years now. The speed lace system is great. The only problem I’ve had was when my dog chewed 1 of the laces. Not a fault of the boot system.
Long time sponsor on here; if they weren’t any good they would not have been on here. They are helping to pay for this BB, let them know you appreciate it when you buy your boots. 8)
My wife and I wear Chotas. Been on the same two pairs for going on 4 years now. They are the lightest, most comfortable boots I’ve found.
Here’s my wife’s write up on them.

Cool looks like Im probably getting a pair of chotas then… Should I just order the same size as my street shoes?? or should I go a size bigger?
Thanks for the quick replies all, its nice I can throw up a post and have answers in hours!
Blaine
I heard your supposed to go at least 1 size bigger than your street shoes, Accounting for thick socks.
Well, lets go all the way. Call them and ask; really. (Phone (865) 690-1814) (ask for Frank) Be fun and you will get the right answer. 8)

I have been using the Chota wading boots for 4 years and I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a good wading boot that has a lot of quality built into them. I have replaced the quick laces once. I purchased them one size larger than my street shoe to allow for the stocking foot on my waders. I am always impressed with how easily they go on and come off.
You will not be disappointed with them.
I have the slt plus with cleats, and the Abrams creek when I don’t want cleats. I like them both, wear them over waders in the same size as my regular shoes.

I had my Chotas for 3 years now. They wear well and they also come with scew in spikes, should you want to go that way. They are a little heavy but a fine choice.
I HATED wading boots until i got my Chotas STL + 4 years ago.
Now i could sleep in them!

I have the STL’s. The quick laces broke in less than a year.
I eventually ditched the quick laces and went with a conventional type of lace.
Then one of the loops on the boot that the lace goes through broke.
I’ve had them maybe 2.5 years. Also, the rubber on the back of the boot is just about shot.
I liked the removable stud system, but depressed about the lacing system.
I use them as back-ups now.

Over the years, I have gone through a lot of wading shoes. The best by far have been the Chotas STL (no studs). They have all the plusses mentioned above, but no one mentioned the gray felts. The felt material is the grippiest of all, and very long lasting too.
Someone mentioned comfort - yes, the Chotas are comfortable, but more important for me is the arch and ankle support they provide. There are places where good footing during wading is a matter of safety.
The other aspect of the foot support is the way my back and spine appreciates the Chotas.
The Quick Lace system is a big plus for me. I have tried the various traditional and quick lacing approaches - Velcro, zippers, speed lacing. The Quick Lacing is elastic, so not only is it pretty fast, but the tension can be set in the beginning and wading and the effect of water on the shoe won’t require stopping ffishing to do constant readjustments. My Quick Laces have lasted almost a thousand hours in PA, NY, MT, and ID, and are about ready to be replaced (with more Quick Laces)
