Casting in McKinney

Saturday AM a whole gaggle of casters met at McKinney’s Towne Lake to cast. We learned, shot the breeze and had lunch.

I learned that a twelve year old can be a font of information! Taylor showed me how to cast the sley rod that I showed up with.

My son decided that he needs a spey rod in the worst way (ouch!) And I learned a bit more about rod loading and casting cadence/timing.

Sounds like ya’ll had a good time. How is Towne Lake for fishing? I live in Carrollton and drive out that way fairly often.

JR

Seasonal. Although with all this rain that is subject to change. I intend to fish it with my kayak here soon and see how it works out to hit it from seaside.

Great pics! Looked like a good time. Yep, i’ve had that same expression many times. lol. You’re son wants to get into the spey thing, eh? It’s a blast! I’ve been doing it for several seasons, mostly for steelhead and salmon, but I just got into it for smallie fishing, too. Good times!
