Burning the midnight oil!

In response to Nighthawk’s topic about summer arriving and fireflies coming out, I made that fly. It hit me like a ton of bricks when I realized I had everything I needed.
Because my camera is old, the images have to be large to show detail. So links were in order.:stuck_out_tongue:

For the “glowing tail” I cut a nub of yellow foam to that shape. Then wrapped black chenille forward to just behind the eyelet. Tied on black foam to match the tail, then used head cement to glue it to the tail. Then tied on some rubber legs and trimmed the head to be round.:tieone:

Panfisha,

Very nice firefly, or “lightning bug” as we used to call them.

Let us know how they perform.

Mike

Very nice glow bugs - very nice flies, do let us know how you fished them and at what time of the day they were more effective…
