hook - Dai Riki 899 #6
thread - UTC 140 tan, black
tail/body - deer hair
hackle - hen black
underwing - Midge Krystal Flash pearl
wing - deer hair
lip - deer hair butts

Part 1

mash barb, start thread; clean, stack, measure (gap width) a clump of deer hair, tie in (don’t spin)

cover tips with tape (keeps them out of the way during trimming ), push butts back, surrounding shank

clean another clump of deer, trim tips, 2 soft loops and spin

pack it back, repeat, as needed, to fill the shank up to the double wire; half hitch x 2, trim, SHHAN

ventral side up, push the razor blade back to make the belly

Part 2

repeat on top and sides, tapering from front to back

taking shape

re-start with black thread, tie in (folded) hackle by tip

wrap, tie off/trim

tie in some KF

clean, stack, measure (tips to bend) another clump of deer; tie in, whip, SHHAN

brush butts with vinyl cement, squeeze flat

trim lip
