I was recently going through some old books that I inherited from my father, when I came across a small book entitled, “Famous Sportsmen’s Recipes,” compiled by Jessie Marie DeBoth. The book by copyrighted in 1940 by the author but there is no indication that it was professionally published. I am assuming that it was self published by some ‘vanity’ press.

What’s interesting is that it appears the author wrote letters to famous people who were hunters, fishermen and conservationist. She asked them to respond by sending in their favorite wild game recipes. Many of those famous people replied — thus the book! Many of the people I have never heard of but some are truly know to us all. From time to time I’d like to share with you some of these recipes. I hope you enjoy.
