An Aussie fly from the late 1800’s, supposedly a hopper imitation. I’ve seen it tied with the GP tippets parallel to the hook shank and as a pair of tips under the wing; did it as a bunch here, similar to Sawada’s version. The wing came from feathers found at the butt of a pheasant tail clump; not sure what they’re called but they have nice markings.

mash barb, start thread 1 eye width back from eye, tie in rib, wrap to bend, return to tie-in
tie in floss, wrap to bend and back; tie off/trim
rib body; tie off/trim
measure (gap width past bend) a segment of gp tippets; fold, tie in/trim
tie in partridge by tip; wrap, tie off/trim (keep it sparse)
