Braided Bamboo Fly rod?

I have a subsciption to MidCurrent online magazine, and was reading an article about braided bamboo 4’ fly rods.
I followed the link and there was a little info about this, but not alot. I am curious if anyone else has seen this, and
has any info about how/why it is done and or the uses for something like that.

And a price tag of $650! Looks like what I do when the fish aren’t cooperating!! Willow braids up real nice!
