I bought a new pair of Bolle Marine sunglasses from Academy about 4 months ago. What a huge waste of money. I think I paid $120. From day one, they were hard to clean. They seemed to constantly get a greasy film on them. Now, the lense coating is bubbling, and I feel like I have cataracts when I wear them. Looks like I should of spent $12 for a walmart pair.
can anyone suggest a decent pair to replace these for under $100?
got a pair of onos recently on sale for $55. very clear and they have the old man feature of built in magnifiers which i unfortunately have need for. have yet to use them on the stream, but they work well driving.
I’ve been very satisfied with the Habervisions I bought this past spring. I got the “Nice” style, which runs $90. Couldn’t believe how much better I could see on the water once I got them.
I’ll second the Walmart fit-overs for regular glasses. They have high quality lens and come with a practically bomb-proof carrying case. As I remember their price is closer to $16. The amber lens are perfect for both stream and lake fishing. Once again, they have great “bang for the buck.” I don’t leave home without them. 8T
My girlfriend a I both have a pair of Smiths, and they rock! Mine are a few years older than hers but she can change the lenses in them but don’t seem to cut through the water as well but still do a good job. You just have to find them for the right price is the key.
Bedlam, sounds like your glasses are coming apart. Have you contacted Bolle? Warranty?
I wear Action Optics (Smith) with my current pair going on 10 years. These are the cheaper plastic ones.
Years ago I tried the Walmart glasses. Not very good optics. Cheap, though. Here’s a link to a cheaper brand someone once posted here. I don’t own these: http://www.glpolarized.com/
I had the same experience with a pair of Ray Bans. Ray Ban replaced them but never was happy with them.
I wouldn’t trust my eyes to a pair of sunglasses under $50 unless I got thumbs up from an Optometrist. So I did just that and he recommended a Kirkland brand (probably because my Optometrist is from Costco) that had all the bells and whistles that the higher price ones have, with the exception of the frame material (I don’t miss it).
$30.00 is what I paid. They came with a case and a cleaning cloth; was so pleased that I bought a back up pair.
If you’re not a member let me know I sure we could get a pair to you.
Respectfully,
Sean
P.S. Oakleys though expensive are well worth the moneys for the optics and protection. I am sure they saved my eye once
and I wasn’t fishing.
The Bolle warrranty requires the original receipt, which, I am unable to locate. apparently costa del mar has a lifetime warranty and does not require the receipt in case you lose the receipt…again.
