Instead of playing the games of shopping the day after Thanksgiving I met up with a guy from my apartments who also just moved down to NC from MI and went fishing. It was the first time we both fished this river. I think we did pretty well. Here are a few pictures of the nicer two I hooked up with. All the fish I caught were on a streamer I tied up myself.

A really nice fish and fly combination. The colours in your streamer are a nice combo. You should consider submitting it for a Fly of the Week.
I think this is going to be my winter fishing water. I spent most of last winter fishing a smaller stream a bit closer to home but there just isn’t near the water or fish there. I think it will be well worth the extra 20 minutes on the road.
Donat - I have found that the flies do not have to be perfectly pretty to catch fish. My posted fly as example. I am sure you can tie something up to catch some fish.
Wingsdlc-Thanks for the encouragement. I’m still waiting for my tying kit, it was back-ordered, from H&H and anxious to start tying something. Doing a lot of reading about tying in the meantime.
