Down on the Bitterroot for a walk this afternoon. When I got home, I noticed that a skwala had hitched a ride with me.

It’s a bit early for one to be this far along …

… but in a matter of days, the fishies will be looking up for skwala dries that look something like this.

Here’s an FEB Skwala dry fly that I came up with a number of years ago. For the FOTW presentation, go to the old FAOL website and search the FOTW archives for 2012. For the present, I would prefer a natural deer hair to the dark brown of the original.

Decided to tie the current version based on the FEB Hopper approach, which is also in the FAOL FOTW archives in 2012. Will give this one a go in the next few days.
