Biggest Gurgle Pop?

I’ve been tying and fishing Gurgle Pops in size 12, 8, and 2. Last week, I bought a pack of 1/0 hooks by accident. I tried to tie a couple Gurgle Pops on those, but they didn’t look quite right (didn’t cut the foam wide enough).

I might try to tie a 1/0 again, but instead of yellow, go with all black, and use it at Dusk/Dawn.

What’s the biggest anyone has tied a Gurgle Pop?

Now if a gurgle pop is what I think it is then I have seen them tied 2/0 for saltwater. The fly I am thinking of is called the gurggler so I might be wrong. Even at that if you use the correct dimensions it should look good.

A quick google search tells me they are similar so yeah.

I have a few tied on 1/0 stinger hooks for bass…

This was something I assembled for a friend who had been ask to help reduce the number of bass in a farm pond. It’s not a gurgles, it’s my version of a snagproof frog from craft foam. It’s the biggest thing I have ever tied but it cast remarkably well with a 6 wt.

I have tied gurglers on 5/0 hooks. About 7-8 inches long overall. For largemouth bass and kelp bass (saltwater).

I’ve tied them up to 1/0 but my best success is a size 10 fished with a small nymph dropper.
