Where are you Cactus Jack? The opener is this weekend and no post yet? Welcome to the Annual Bear Track Trout Opener on the Little Manistee! Good food, lots of Yatzee and Campfire. Some fishing…LOL…but lots of good friends and fish stories. Snow, sleet, rain and hail…flip flops on the way to the outhouse in the am with snow over your toes. Well, gotta love it!
Karla;
Sorry I missed this post! Too excited about going I guess!? We did not get any snow or even rain this trip, just a couple of real cold nights!!
Excelent food, and the corn bread was great!! The fishing’ was a little better this year! But, do we realy go for the fishing??
It was a sort of Mini Fish-In as all there visit this site.
Don’t forget the Michigan Fish-In August 14th to the 20th. The Holy Water’s of the Au Sable await you!!

I had a great time. I do go for the fishing but it wasn’t real great. Caught quiet a few 8-10 inchers which are always fun. Was nice to have Bob and Jim (riverdance) there with us. My family also joined us and the grand baby was a big hit. Lots of good friends getting together and few new people fishing also. It was cold a night on Thursday but the Mr. Heaters did their job…at least in my camper. Crankbait was there too with a guest…all in all we had about 15 people ranging in age from 22 months to 70 plus years old. My coleman guide stove kept up wonderfully with all the tenderloins thrown at it. Jack had his stove on a test run so look out if you stop by his site at the fish in.
Was nice to be outside for 4 1/2 days enjoying all of nature. God Bless.
Karla: The fish would have been bigger but we were all being punished because you said bad things about Bushmills whiskey. Enough bad karma there for the entire party . We did have a lot of fun though and I got to fish a new section of the Little Manistee.
all leaders tangle; mine are just better at it than most. Jim
Well, I am sorry Jimmer…rainbowchasers new nickname…I guess you have to develop a taste for it. Sure was a ton of fun though wasn’t it?
Thank you all for the great time on Saturday morning. Everyone was very helpful to this “newbie”. Had many hits, got a few of those to stick long enough to reel them in and release them. Best part was getting the skunk off my rod. Got my first fish ever while fly fishing with the added bonus of being on a fly I tied. Hopefully I can join you all again next year.
