Perhaps I’m slow, but I just noticed our first member “banned from the BB!” That is pretty funny, IMO.
For those that haven’t noticed it yet, it is now on JC’s name. Find one of his old posts and you’ll see it there.
if other people have been “banned” how is the person you say is “banned” the first??
oldblu
I’m not sure I understand your comment. Could it be that the moniker JC has been banned for use by anyone else? If that’s the case, it seems only natural.
Dave
It was a complaint of being banned by various users from time to time, and his standard response was that they weren’t banned. At least I recall reading that more than once. It’s now on his status line. All banned users (that I’m aware of) have accounts deleted as well. Just seems a humorous status as opposed to senior member or admin.
We just didn’t want anyone else to use JC’s name here. It could have been confusing don’t you think?
Absolutely. I was putting it in context of some past posts/conversations with JC and saw a bit of humor in it. I hope that no offense was taken.
I for one think JC would find the humor in it.
He up and died on us - so we banned his butt.
It is simply to insure that no one stumbled upon his password and got in with owner style privileges. Or posted stuff as him as a joke or whatever.
Still, and let this serve as a warning…
If you up and die on us I have no problems banning your butts either…

Im past my middle 80s—how do I notify you when Im no longer able to post???BILL:tieone:
In my pointy little mind this is the equilvalent of retiring his jersey, or in this case his vest!
Well William, that would be JC’s new job, so he’ll simply log in and…
Oh… “I don’t think that plan was thought out very well…”
Hmmm… Then again… and perhaps I should double check, but I thought JC was the only one with admin level privileges that is casting from the other side.
Deleting an account causes posts to become owned by ‘Guest’ ergo no user with posts will be deleted. (and my pre pruning plea begins to make sense) But in JC’s case I couldn’t let that account get hacked… so his got banned.
I got banned from a food website earlier this year (yes, banned, as in "you are no longer welcome to participate here in Happy Valley with our fellow dysfunctional PETA and Greenpeace foodies. More on that at a later time), and they were so worried about image that they would not put “Banned” below a username like most websites, nor would they delete account info. If you went to look at a person’s profile, everything was still intact, but the banned user could not access the site unless you had a dynamic IP address (which yours truly does). There are many things that can be done with this vBulletin software so it looks like people just disappear without a trace, just like the rapture.
A couple of years ago I got in a manic phase and tried to see how far I could push JC. (It was pretty fa but he didn’t ban me. At that point I figured he was a shrewd jusdge of posters and realized I was fooling with him.) As a result, I am tickled he’s banned and understand entirely why and how3 appropriate it is. His moniker ought to be retired.
Ron, if I were you, I’d be real careful next time I go fishing, especially if one of the worms sticks its tongue out at you…

So if I’m deep into fish, they’re all rising to ANY fly, even with my pitiful casting and presentation, … I should actually try to log-on to FAOL … could be I’ve just found the perfect river … then again, if I’m Banned too, … I’m probably in Heaven!
No Chris, it ain’t Heaven you’re in. You need to re-read the Castwell story.
Ed
I’ve been banned a couple of places myself.
And actually it didn’t hurt, and I’ve found better folks and better places.
Like right here.
I am no expert but it seems it would be easier to just take away admin privs, all privs for that matter. So if someone did hack into his account they couldnt post, send IM’s etc. But I bet all the people that were banned by him appreciate your way better.
