Sometimes a pattern starts with recognizing the potential of non-traditional material you come across in your travels. I found this yarn boa/scarf in a thrift shop and immediately saw the possibilities of patterns I could use it for. I was about five feet long and woven and sewn together, so it took me a while to get it unraveled. It was all one piece of yarn that had been dyed different earth tones so the colors transitioned from bright green to almost black. To give you an idea of how much yarn there is, the smallest ball near the tip on the scissors is about 12 feet long. I is a nice thick yarn made from extremely fine fibers that brush out beautifully and lend themselves to blending colors. This is a simple baitfish pattern I tied on a size 1 Ahrex hook. There are a ton of patterns I will tie with this one $1.80 purchase. Just keep you eyes open for potential materials whenever you are out and about.https://gifyu.com/image/SQ6B0
Nice find and pattern.

Thanks Rick. I always keep an eye out for materials that I can use at my fly-tying bench and this material looks like it will work great.Jim
