Bob,
Check with the folks over on the fiberglassrods website. Some nice glass bought and sold there.

One interesting point - I just dragged out my old Fenwick graphite - a 6 wt from probably 25 years ago, and noticed that it is as light as a feather, and the blank is as small a diameter as any of my newer rods. Wonder what they knew back then?
I’m guessing 95% of what they know today!
I want to correct a piece of mis-information…you may recall if you’ve been around FAOL any length of time that the late JC and I represented the Italian rod company Gatti at several of the consumer shows. I still believe the Gatti rods are one of the best casting rods designed anywhere.
They did have some problems with tip breakage - BUT not more than Sage had at that time, everyone was having problems getting the correct mix for graphite composite, and Gatti had additional since they also use ceramic in the fabric. But according to my sources at Sage (and G. Loomis) at the time, the breakage was NOT out of line with what the other manufacturers were experiencing.
LF,
I wasn’t around FAOL back then but back when graphite rods first came out everyone had problems with rods breaking, at least in the casting and spinning side of the industry. They were not only expensive they would break with no warning. I licked my chops for quite a while before I got a graphite rod.
