Anyone have knowledge of the Whistler, BC area?

I’ll be taking a trip there at the end of July, beginning of August for work and will be able to steal a full day of fishing on a Saturday. I couldn’t be more un-familiar with the area, but would love to know if someone here knows anything about it. I would imagine there are some decent trout streams, and have done a little prelim work, but this site is so useful! I got some great recommendations recently on a trip to Lake Tahoe and had a great day on the Truckee…hoping I can get some similar leads…thanks so much in advance!

You’ve probably already seen this, but they are good guys. Give 'em a call.

I agree call or message Whistlerflyfishing/ Brian Niska
Book a half day guided and you are set.
The shop is right in the village and hot flies and info are available.
Float tube fishing available on the lake on the edge of the village (Green L. ?) and lots of streams around and on the drive up from Vancouver as well.
B.C. freshwater license needed- separate salt license if you are going to fish the salt.

Great area,

Cool, thanks for the tips fellas.
I’ll be calling them soon, and hopefully reporting on a successful outing!

You can fish Jaffre park without a guide. Not too far from Whistler. The park has 3 alpine lakes on an ascending trail to the base of the glacier. The first and lowest lake on the trail is only300 yards from the parking lot. Its a pale azure turquoise color from the glacial till that runs off the mountain.

The rainbows grow very slowly in at this altitude as the feeding season is so short. Just wade out to casting distance from the ravenous risers and you should be able to catch 10 in 20 minutes as I did last year.

I also took a quided trip through the Guide service already mentioned. They will take you for salmon or trout river or lake. Very affable characters. Fished till I couldn’t anymore. Learned alot about freestone fishing. Used my education later in the week to fish streams on Vacouver Island.
