Have gotten quite a few emails. Looks like wewill have a good representation of FAOLers at each show…Somebody who knows how to use one of them fancy digital cameras, please bring one. I know, I know, they’re simple but at the International I took a couple dozen pictures and only 2 came out decent. It is a 7.1 Canon so it is me and “buttons” and not the camera. Need more lessons from my wife… I always end up buying a throwaway!
I’ll be the MC at the Cleveland show January 13th. http://www.expo2007.ncff.net Probably wearing that same green shirt as the past four shows. This is my last year as Chairman, and I finally get to tie at the 2008 show.

Schaumberg on Saturday. Hope to see you there.
Hi Joe, Too bad shows have conflicting dates. Wondered why Bear wasn’t at Schaumburg…Say hi to him for me. I’ll see Chris for breakfast that Monday…lol.
If I wasn’t tying at Schaumburg I’d join you guys. Have a great show!..Bob
I looked at the list of Marlboro exhibitors and couldn’t get motivated enough to go. It seems there’s a greater percentage of lodges than ever. I’m not sure whether I’m ‘outgfrowing’ these shows or the participant list is dwindling, but they definitely seem less and less appealing with time.
Josko, Vendors are vendors. Look for the speakers. Every year there are some new ones. There are always new products out . Materials, rods and gear. So vendors may be the same but things do change. Many people have jumped on the show bandwagon as promoters seeing how others have done it so there are many, many shows and if you go to a lot of them yes, they will begin to seem all the same.
But this post is all about meeting up with other FAOLers at various shows, putting faces with handles, indoor, non-fishing fish-ins if you may, reunions for some, and not really about the shows themselves. Hope you make one of them…Warm regards, Bob
I’m planning on attending the Charlotte show, but I don’t know which day(s) yet. Probably won’t be Sunday as that is the Super Bowl, though that is likely to be after the show is finished.
I’ll be at this one (MPLS) with our local club of tyers:

I am looking into going to somerset, could possibly be both the 26th and 27th

Hi flyangler, Question. When I click on your posted URL the exact same “programs” come up no matter which one I push. Same hotel too. What’s up with that? A glitch?
I booked Chris and Bear over a year ago. They draw good numbers of attendeed because they are such great guys and great tyers. We have a lot of local talent at our show, and the attendees like that. It’s amazing how many people are intimidated by many of the clebrity tyers, but will sit and chat with a local tyer for a long time.
This will be my last show as Chairman, and I’m going to enjoy my new “emeritus” title after five shows in a row. I think I’ll buy myself a drink, tie some flies, and actually go fishing for a change. I’ll even blow off the Board meetings at the club.

They are great guys. Your above statement though may be peculiar to your area. I’ve tied at probably 200 shows and events in the last 20 or so years and have found just the opposite. Of course if you were in Pa. and George Harvey or Joe Humphreys are tying I guess they would fit both categories. Bear and Chris are not exactly ‘no names’ lol…Both award winners I believe. Hoping to get out to Bears with Brandt to fish with him this year and as I said, I’ll see Chris that Monday. Good luck with the show and enjoy that drink. You deserve it…If I were there, I’d buy! Perhaps we even met at the Grand Rapids Show a few years ago or an Ice Breaker out that way I’ve been to. Be well and fish on…Bob[
mantis - I always greatly enjoy catching up with you at these events. See you on Saturday.

Mantis- I don’t know, but I bet you can email Tom at mwfly@mwfly.com and ask him.
Hey, this is great! Between posts, a couple of PMs and a bunch of emails it seems that 2 dozen FAOLers will be at the Schaumburg show. Great to put names, handles , and faces together!!!..Extended weather report says the cold of winter is finally going to catch up with us. Two days ago it was 71 degrees here in the foot hills of the Adirondacks! I just hope the snow off the lakes isn’t too bad. Leaving 4 AM Friday. An 800 mile ride is long enough in good weather! See ya there…Bob
i’ll be at the Marlborough show sitting at the New England Fly Tyers booth on sunday 12-3:00 most likely walking around the rest of the weekend. hope to meet a few good folks.
