Another "RIVER" aftermath??

Has anyone else looked at the TU website and seen this: http://www.tu.org/pdf/pressrelease_imax.pdf[/url:37e6c]

Looks like it would be an awesome film. I’ll go see it. But I’d bet money that you will see a good spike in both sales and price of Fly-Fishing equipment and people on the river afterwards.
At least it sounds like there will be some education for the newbees.

What do you think?

I am guessing that an IMAX film isn’t going to create a huge rush of people running from the theater to the fly shops. Certainly hasn’t happened with any other IMAX film subject that I am aware of.

I think they should have one well known master flycaster/fisher and one newbie to better round out the movie .

I volunteer to be that newbie .

I could use a trip round the world to the best fishing spots on the planet .

Where do I sign ?

Time is the fire that we burn in .

It sounds kind of cheesy to me. I’m sure it’d be cool to see some great photography of fish, fishing, and places to fish. Hoever, it sounds like some kind of super-sized after-school special. Since the vast majority of IMAX theaters I’ve encountered are at museums it seems like I’d feel like an even bigger dork telling my wife, “Come on, Sarah, let’s go the the fly fishing movie at the natural history museum!” (Not that I dislike going to the natural history museum, I just can’t imagine going specifically to watch an IMAX movie.)

I’d probably go to check it out; if it was in their new 3D format, I would definitely be there. I saw that “Polar Express” flick in 3D IMAX, and this isn’t the same stuff they’ve been using for the last 20 years. Some of those scenes gave me goose bumps.

i dont know about causing a spark in sales and new fishers. fly fishing movies, the ones only about fly fishing, are only interesting to fly fisher-people, for the most part.

its a lot like rock climbing movies if you dont know what you are seeing, its really hard to get excited about it. most people who dont rock climb, and/or fly fish, dont want to watch a movie about people doing things that dont interest them. its hard to see the difficulty involved without having experienced it yourself.

on the flip side, watching people haul in sharks from the bow of a boat in 15’ seas is exciting wether youve done it or not. watching people ski downhill at over 50 mph, cruising downhill on a mt. bike in full “battle-gear”, sky diving…these things excite folks because the general public hasnt experienced it for themselves, rather than in spite of the general public not experiencing it.

im not even sure this post makes sense, to you guys…but it does in my mind .
