Another after church trip

Church ended late, so I was on the canal around 12:30. It was hot. I knew I wasn’t gonna catch anything. It was windy, so I had brought the fiberglass 5wt.

A gar swims by, I cast and it eats. Sweet!

More gar are around, so this is where the day’s going to take me.

Unfortunately, these guys were pesky and got to the fly first:

These only bite when you’re not fishing for them:

The wind kicks up, so I move to a spot where it’s at my back. It’s a spillway filled with more gar. I notice some flashes beneath them. Tilapia!

It was hot. My neck is the color of a tomato. Surprisingly, though, it was a very productive couple of hours! (Angler Action log screen capture)

Great fishing report and talk about a variety of fish. Thanks for the photos. Remember to take your sun screen with you next time.

There is just something about a stream that has a variety of fish in it that makes for an interesting fishing trip and a lot of fun. Nice fishing report.
