Has there been a lot of bad weather this year??

Thanks,
Doug :frowning:

Doug,
As a military aviator I can tell you that even during the best of times the weather in Alaska can be dangerous. Terrain and latitude have a lot to do with it. Very mountainous terrain at a latitude where strong weather systems from the north and south converge. Also you have the effect of warm and cold ocean currents on the atmosphere.

Alaskan weather will keep the best, most experienced pilots on their toes at all times. In my opinion, Alaska and Northwest Territory bush pilots are the finest pilots in the world.

These recent accidents are tragic and unfortunate. However, there have been relatively few crashes for some time. I don’t think anything sinister is happening here, just the law of averages catching up.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of all involved.

Eric,
That’s right! The Pilots and Planes are the Best! One of our members is a Bush pilot.
Hoping to hear from him!
Thanks,
Doug
