Just last week I realized that that Uni-yarn works great in a bobbin, tied one fly to see how it goes.Go figure, nice tight bodies, perfect wraps and no waste at all, before I would cut enough of the spool to tie a couple of flies but always had waste.
Just livin’ and learnin’,
Who has discoveries or tips for me as of late?

Isn’t it GREAT!! I, like you, keep learning something that should have “jumped” out at me years ago. Ain’t it great! You might look at Al Campbell’s pages. He has some small midge patterns where the body material is put on , are you ready for this, with the whip finisher!!! I have tied them and it works great!! I LOVE FLY TYING!! Have a great Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!
Cool. I also keep wires and uni-flex and floss in bobbins if I’m going to tie more than one or two of any pattern that calls for them. It helps keep the tension perfect for the uni-flex.
