Acorn

A variation of a classic style, that has produced for me throughout several seasons as a search pattern.

Do you reverse hackle the body? What I really mean, is that it looks as though the hackle is wrapped from the back, but with the shiny side of the hackle to the rear not the front?

Yes, it’s wrapped front-to-rear & I tie in both hackles in dry fashion.

Just wondering, does it make a difference which way the hackle is wrapped? I have started using similar flies for bluegill here in Florida, but they don’t seem to care. I also leave out the split wing.

I feel it helps float the fly much better tied in dry style.
