There are things that happen that are just plain cool!!

But then there are things that just cannot be beaten - cannot be any better.

This would be one of those!!

A picture is worth a thousand words. Pricelees is the smile of a happy lad and better yet of a proud Dad.

Love is a splendid thing

What a great surprize and a memory that will touch his life and last forever. Thank you for sharing the photos.

Leonard;
Priceless for sure! Thank’s for sharing with us.

The smile really says it all . Now you need to get a picture of his first fish on the new gear .

By the way , does the birthday boy have a name and age ?

I realize that you know it but the rest of us don’t . lol

My Kids have grown up and moved across the country , I really miss moments like that . Treasure these next few years as they fly by way to quickly .

Thanks for sharing this with us .

I could be wrong , It seems unlikely , but I suppose it could happen.

Kewl !!

Best part is This gift will last his whole life…Maybe not the waders…lol…But that rod can certianly be passed on to HIS son !!! Awesome !!!

His name is Dakota…
He is 8 today…

wow, that got me all teary. When that boy is a man he will still be using that rod and reel. I guarantee it. Awesome!

Hey Leonard,

That was rich! Love seeing a father and son share so much joy together. Awesome!

I guess there ahs been some confusion here…

Look in the Things Wanted section…
Dakota was the boy I was trying to find the reel for Christmas… I meet him on the lake and he was very interested in fly fishing… so with the help of other were got him set up…

His mom and dad are very surprized that we got this much together for him

Leonard

Great pics, thanks for sharing!! It takes a really special person to do what you have done and I commend you for it! I sincerly hope that Dakota enjoys these gifts. If he ever gets low on flies, please let me know I bet we could find a few around here

…fly tying is the next best thing to fishing; it is the sort of licking of the lips that eases a thirsty man in the desert

Terrific job Leonard, I’m glad I was able to help.

Thanks Leonard,

That really brings a smile to ones face. I think we can all imagine the joy in Dakota's heart.

Hey Leonard,

First of all, I hope you are Ok! I know you recently had surgery and hope that you are not experiencing any difficulties. If so, we wish you well and will keep you in our prayers.

In my life I have been very blessed by the out pouring of others just like you, it “is” the reason that fishing is my passion in life.

One man took a little time out of his own life to share fishing with me, just a little boy like Dakota, and it literally changed the path of my life!

This you are now doing with Dakota, and whether he knows it or not, you are impacting and quite possibly changing his life path, forever! God Bless You, Leonard.

Sportsmen are the greatest, most giving people on this earth, and I commend you for your unselfish efforts to change one small boys life and dreams.

Who knows, We just might see his Dad on the river with him. You know that his dad can’t take him fishing without getting in on a litle of the action too. So thats two lives Leonard that you have ultimately impacted.

Many before me have stated the obvious, that a picture is worth a thousand words, and the joy and happiness that is glowing all over Dakota’s face is absolutely Priceless!

I don’t remember the smile on my face the day my mentor shared fishing with me, but I imagine it mirrored Dakota’s.

Many FAOL members contributed to help Dakota get his new passion started and I personally want to say “Thank You” to all who have joined in, you’re the best.

These are the things that memmories are made of and I’m glad to have had the opportunity along with all the others to have been a very small part.

One day, you may just be blessed by bumping into Dakota on the river and he may share a little story with you. A story about how his life was changed forever, and how he has been chasing Trout all over this country because some people he didn’t even know, cared enough to give.

You go Dakota!

Fish On!!!

Terry

Has anyone heard from Leonard lately, Is he Ok?

Leonard if your Ok, chime in and tell us.

You got me concerned after your last post that something was very wrong.

Terry

bump…

Leonard,
You and those that pitched in are the best. You are all heroes to that little boy and to me too. Please let us know if you are ok.
