So I was almost done with my freinds rod I am building him, its a 6wt 9ft 3pc rx7.
The guides were all wraped the reel seat and grip are epoxied in. So I deceided to test the guide spaceing, I put my line on it and I started checking out the spacing when SNAP aaahh freak dang it.
So needless to say its been a bad day
I guess looking on the bright side the guides will be easier to take off because they are not coated with finish yet
Check with the manufacturer. Sometimes they can replace the broken section only, and you can still keep the other sections as they are. It happened on my wife’s last rod I built. You might have to send the whole thing in so they can fit it.
PA Guy, that is a sickening sound and feeling, isn’t it! Especially on such a beautiful piece of work.Built a Winston BIIx, 8 wt for a friend and his broke just about like that, Winston replaced just the section so it made easy for replacing the section for him. …just to let you know that you aren’t the only one that has happened to…
brand new tip section from a 7 1/2’ 2/2 (now a 2/1) split bamboo!!! Sill puking over that one!!!
REE, thank you for the compliment. Yes I made the cork grip I turn it on a 7.2 vlt $20 special ryboi drill. Its not the best set up but one day I will buy myself a lathe
Tomorrow I will get In touch with the manufacture and see what can be done, It kinda sucks this rod never even got finished and it already broke
Dleo, Ouch, Thanks for posting that pic it makes me feel alot better.
