Is there a way that the FOTW can be set up as a downloadable file (PDF or otherwise?) I love the CD, but want to add the others.
I have many of the FAOL Series converted to PDF (Adobe). Just email me at …
Name and mailing address, and I will send you a CD of my FAOL 2006 CD, which has all the Just Old Flies, Fly of the Week, Al Campbell Fly Tying Series, Ron Lucas "Dressing Salmon Flies, and more.
I also have all the recent articles of Vol 10 of FAOL, that I can send as attachments, just email me at…
If you have a “PDF Printer” installed on your home computer, all you have to do is to left click on the entire article to highlight it, then go to “FILE”, “PRINT”, push in the “SELECTION” radio button instead of “ALL”, pick the “PDF PRINTER” and click on “PRINT”. This action will now save the selection as a PDF document.
You can get free PDF printer software from the internet. The free one I use is called “CutePDFprinter”
Hope that helps. It works for me so it should work for you.
Are you just trying to save the patterns for your own use?
I have every pattern that FAOL has put out. Here’s how to save them.
- Open the FAOL pattern you want to save.
- In a seperate window, open Microsoft Word
- In the FAOL window, select “Select All” from the Edit drop down menu.
- From the Edit menu, select “Copy”
- On the Microsoft Word page, left click on the mouse and select “Paste”.
- The entire page will be copied onto Word as a Word document. You can now add notes, edit, or do whatever you want to it, them save it as a Word document.
This is handy for me, because I have access to the patterns without having to go online, say in a Hotel with no internet access, or even stream-side with my laptop. I can tie anywhere I get a chance!
Semper Fi!
And if you want to print to hard copy…
Hold down left click and highlight what you want…
Go to file
Click on print
Click selection
Then Print
You can go to Preferences and change some things [e.g. to save some ink]
Normand…is that pdf method printing to a doc. in the computer or onto paper?
No, it saves it as a .pdf extension and not a .doc extension. Then I can open it using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Its saved to my hard drive.
Why it uses the word “print” to save to a .pdf extension is beyond me.
