A photo test

This is just a test to see if I can get these photos to load from a site other than photobucket… I rarely use that site.

These pics were taken in spring 2003.

This is a private pond that is used only by people in my family. Since there aren’t that many people that use it, there are probably some record size fish in there.

This is Shoal Creek which eventually reaches the Tennessee river. It actually runs along our property line also.

That being said, both of these places look different from the way they are now. That small gravel bar you see in the photo of the creek actually extends over halfway into the creek now.

how bad are the cottonmouths up there?

Joe -

You passed with flying colors !!

John

I’ve never actually seen any cottonmouths around here, though people tell us that they are here. I think what they are seeing are just water snakes. My Dad grew up in MS swamps so he knows what they look like and he doesn’t seem to think there are any around here either. But, then again, there probably are some lurking around.

Hope I don’t see any… I’ve heard they are pretty aggressive…

Nice pics. That’s pretty country.

Are your family members open to adopting a foreigner from Ohio with a passion for fly fishing? I can cook pretty good in exchange for a seat in the boat.

Will tie flies and cook dinner for fishing privileges.

Joseph the Wishful

Nice photos, good job.
I understand about them looking different now. Maybe the rains we’ve been getting will help some.

Joe V.
Loretto is only about a hour and a half from me, making me much more adopatable! Another Tennesseean to sign the “Hat”!

I don’t know about adopting people…

Due to the floods and drought in the past few years, Shoal creek is constantly changing. The pond level just drops and rises.

Never seen one myself…West Tn.

Hope it stays that way.

Your creek pics, remind me of one of my local favorites, here in Oregon… “HumBug Creek”. it’s a great little rainbow fishery, tucked along Hwy.#26, coming down, out of the coast range mountains. “3Wt. fishing paradise”!

BE careful, who you end up adopting… Jack would, I’m sure be okay, he’s apparently well mannered, has a lot of class and uses two syllable words without hesitation.
Now, Joe V., being at the exact opposite end of that scale, oddly enough, may be your better choice in the long run.
Ones with “lots of class, high intelligence, well mannered and speak well”, also, unfortunately, also usually demand much better table fair and beverages which lends itself, naturally, to much higher food bills.
They also bathe on a somewhat, regular basis so utilities have to also be considered, when making a choice.
Thus, then, my advice for choosing Joe V. over Lord Hise.
MUCH, lower utility bills, for obvious reasons. SPAM and Armor Canned Meat, not to mention, Dinty Moore Stew, are all low budget items and should not increase one’s food allotment stipend nearly as much.
Dinner and other family gatherings, are not nearly so interrupted, with long winded and intelligent conversations. It’s YOUR choice, of course, just wanted to offer a few things to consider first is all.

Some, have even been known to use actual utensils, when eating, but I’ve never eaten with Lord Hise, so can’t say for sure. Terror Tuber, has mentioned to me, about “Joe using a pointed stick”, but I think he meant for “digging grubs out of logs” and not as a table implement. But, again, I’m not sure of this, entirely.

Hey Paul,
You need to read closer!!..joerogrz was talking about adopting PEOPLE, not Joe or Jack!..He was talkin’ about ME! I’m easier to care for than those two anyway.
Mikey

WOW!!
Saint Paul has elevated me to “Lord Hise”! From now on you may all address me as “Sir”! :stuck_out_tongue:

Joerogrz;
I think your thread has just been Hi Jacked!! And it’s all Mike’s fault!

Lord H;
Even enlarged, (full screen), I was unable to discern, WHAT that is a picture of?
Any help, would be greatly appreciated. I can “guess”, but want to be sure.

“Lord H”, not quite showing the due respect I require but I’ll accept it (for now).
Saint Paul, that is yours truly demonstrating the superior properties of “Zip Cast” while at the same time giving “Trolling for Trout” lessons to one of our newest members. Unfortunatly the water was too deep to allow me to show the “Trout Stomp” that I (thanks to you) am now famous for.
If you were to take a closer look you will also see the superior water clarity of our Tennessee Tail Waters!

joerogrz, I appoligize for Joe V., Terror Tuber and Paul for what they have done to your great thread about your home waters. Come on over and I’ll share mine with you!

Jack… I mean Lord Hise… That’s a really nice stream you have there. What’s the name of it? I’ll have to drop in on ya sometime.

Jack,
Is that a new way of flyfishing? Strip out some line and stand there, until the fish run into your fly??
Thanks,
Doug

Joe;
That is the Elk River at Tim’s Ford Dam, just about an hour and a half from you. Anytime you want to check it out just drop me a PM.
If you’ve been following the Trilene Hat thread I should have it soon and it would be a great pleasure to get you signature on it.

Is it in the “Sound Off” section of the forums? I’d love to sign it! That way I can get my name out there…

Joerogrz…I APOLOGIZE GREATLY, for “Hi! Jack!(ing), your nice thread!!
But, you’re also fairly new to FAOL, (but to me you’re also, already, a VERY FINE contributor!!), so you may not be aware” of a “sub-group” here referred to as “The NBOF” (The Nazty Boys of Fly Anglers Online).
And, BEFORE you take The Honorable Lord Jack Hise, up on his kind offer to “come-a-fyshying” with him and thusly, end up deep into the forests and waterways, far from human contact and even farther away from any emergency services… he’s ALSO “A SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, IN CHARGE OF MEMBER RECRUITMENT” for The NBOF!!
(Joe V. is the Prez, Ohio Tuber, aka “Terror Tuber”-“Vise Varmint”& other titles, is in charge of fudge)
JUST a little warning, for you, is all, nothing more!!

Most Honorable Lord Hise… thank you, for clarifying the above picture.
At first, it had me quite confused as I earlier mentioned. MANY things, crossed my mind, as I studied it closely…
“Smokey The Bear, in drag?”
“A flooded, mall’s parking lot and the only thing, left visible, was an antique cigar store Indian?”
“A well hooked and hard fighting carp, tail dancing across the water, right before giving up the fight?”
So many choices!!
So, I’m sure you can more than understand my confusion.
However, as the Morphine, Tramadol and Lortab all began to wear off, and YOU were kind enough to clear the matter up for me, I can NOW very easily see that IT IS IN FACT, YOU and you’re doing what ANY "normal, experienced, fly fisher would be doing, in the same situation…
“Standing, facing down stream, with not a sign of trying to control your fly line, while it’s UPSTREAM, with your fly behind you and enjoying a smoke break, while posing for pictures!” Yep! SAME WAY that I fish, given half a chance!!
Sorry to hear, also, that the water didn’t afford you you’re preferred method of “kicking your catch, onto the bank” and you were forced to resort to rod and fly.
