A 12 days Exuma-trip.

As mentioned earlier I have been at Great Exuma for an almost 2 weeks trip.
The fact that at this very moment I am sitting in a Motel neat Newark due to this Icelandic volcano thing, does not change the fact that I just had a lovely time at the Cays.
The manager of the Cays is a great guy, and an avid and skillfull bonefisher.
Never on any trip before have I seen so many big bonefish than at this island.
Not huge schools, but many groups of approx 4-6 fish of nice sizes, and loads of solitary double digits.
My best fish was this nice buddy:

Will show some more pictures when I am back home…
may take a few days though…
Cheers, Hans

Welcome back Hans, I’m glad you had a good trip…classic picture there…nice bonefish too.

Cheers,

I always say I need a couple of days off to recover from my vacations. It looks like you may get that this time.

Yes, I also need a few days off after a trip, but stranded in a motel, away from everything, even without my luggage (Stowed away somewhere in the catacombs of Newark Airport and unretrievable obviously) it’s not exactly what I had in mind…
Hope to be back home soon…
Hans

Just heard that I will have a flight back home on Monday 26th, this means that you will be stuck with me for another 7 days…
I also heard that Continental Airlines managed to keep my luggage in Ft. Lauderdale, including all my 4 Sage-rods and my reels, 5 flyboxes etc.
I am not a very happy man at this moment…
Hans

Hans, You may already know about this - but in situations like this where your luggage is where you aren’t (their fault) they will pay for clothing and necessities, and food while you are stranded. I had this happen many years ago in Miami. I know it feels awful and I hope you are managing okay.
Hugs,
Deanna

Ladyfisher …
I doubt that Hans can get any reimbursement for cloths and lodging.
This will go down as an act of God, not the airlines fault.
DickM.

God didn’t leave the luggage in Miami…I’d hit on the airline.

A week in New Jersey is intolerable. You should hop over to New Amstradam (the city still knows it’s real name) were you can at least feel at home.

Well, I do have my luggage back, quit a relief I must say.
Finally a chance to change into clean throusers etc.
Tomorrow I will take the (free) shuttle from the Travellodge in Union to the airport, than take the bus to Manhattan and try to play tourist… complete with camera.
Any suggestions about things to do there?
Never been there…
Any suggestions welcome…
Hans

Holy moly…what an opportunity…the Manhattan report could rival the Exuma report…wow…can’t wait !

Cheers,

MontanaMoose

There was a thread a couple of days ago about fly fishing in central park. For most Europeans that should qualify as an exotic location on a par with Exuma

today I got the word:
I have a confirmed flight for next Saturday, so 2 whole days sooner than expected earlier this week.
As much as I like it here, there’s no place like home…
Cheers, Hans

Looking forward to seeing the report when you get home and have things sorted out.
Hugs,
Deanna
