5'6" 1pc Ultra Lite spin rod

Here’s something a bit different from the norm. This is an ultra lite spin rod for a female angler from her husband for their anniversary. The blank is a Mudhole 5’6" UL 2-6lb test 1pc blank. The reel seat is a pink camo style spin seat also from Mudhole. The rear grip and butt are both dark mix cork then to make it as lite and sleek as possible I did the front minus the grip since you always hold the seat on a UL anyway then did an epoxy ramp and tinted the finish by mixing in some red&white to create pink epoxy. In between the split rear grip I painted the blank pink, then did some marbling with pigments mixed to match the reel seat colors. Finished the rear portion off with some chrome winding checks and a removable folding hook keeper.

For the main wraps and trim I used a metallic rose pink main, then a lavender metallic trim. Since this is an anniversary gift the inscription is suited top such with “Hook Line & Sinker”.

Very interesting. I’m curious how it feels in hand and balance with reel. Nice work.

It balances and feels really good. This design was actually started in Rodmaker magazine a few years ago so I can’t take credit for doing this sort of gripless design, but this is the first of it’s kind I have done and I am surprised at how nice it feels.
