OK?..it looks like we are 1/3 of the way there, so here we go, and the rest hopefully will filter in.
Standard swap rules apply. Please have your finished flies to me by 9/27th. That will give me time to flip them around and back to you all in time for the October hatches.
I will be tying the ?Punkin Sedge?. The Great Brown Autumn Sedge AKA- Pumpkin Fly, October Caddis, Cinnamon Caddis, Autumn Sedge. It is the Eastern, more pale cousin of the Western October Caddis.

Sorry for the delay in announcing a pattern. I was confused. I originally interpreted the the title of the swap as meaning a Caddis Fly swap for the month of October. While researching patterns, I discovered that there is an actual species of caddis known as the October Caddis, which is actually the family of Giant Orange Sedges (Dicosmoecus sp.), and that this is what the swap is for. So, after researching several patterns. and pictures and movies of the actual insects, I decided to work out my own pattern, based on what I had on hand. I looked for a pattern like this, and while many are similar, none are really like mine, so in the interests of identification, I am calling this the Chernobyl October Caddis (obviously, it can be tied in different colors and sizes to match other species) I hope this will be Okay for the swap. I will try one out tomorrow on the Hiawassee River.

Perfect! You’re correct. Most every place in the country has a larger October caddis that hatches. Some are bright orange, some are more orange/brown/tan…but most are all the largest caddis of the year.
